Giraffe herd – Serengeti National Park

The Highlights – Ngorongoro National Park, Serengeti & Manyara

This 6 day Tanzania safari covers all the Northern Circuit highlights (Ngorongoro National Park, the Serengeti,  Manyara) providing you with time to truly experience the vast depth and breadth of wildlife, eco-systems and the treasures of Tanzania’s Northern circuit safari country.

Day 1 – The tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at 12:30hrs.  At 14:00hrs, join your experienced professional safari guide in our 4X4 safari vehicle and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. An Ngorongoro safari ranks among the most pristine wildernesses on earth.  It is the largest intact crater in the world, being 610 meters deep, 19 kilometers across and covering an area of 304 square kilometers. On the crater floor, grassland blends into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and mountains – all a haven for wildlife, including the largest predator population in Africa. The volcanic crater is jam-packed with wildlife, including all the big game. Its pride and joy, however, is that it remains the last great wild refuge for black rhino.

Day 2 – Today you will descend 2000 feet to the crater floor for a half-day crater tour. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by elephants, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Lunch at the lodge. After lunch, drive to Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder. Tthe Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. The Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.  Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3 – Enjoy morning game drives in the endless plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Return to your lodge for lunch before departing to central part of Serengeti National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Early morning game drive and morning game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Lunch at the lodge. After lunch, drive to Ndutu area on the border between Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Game view en route. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp in Ndutu.

Day 5 – Morning game drive around Ndutu Area.  The wildlife defines the Serengeti-countless zebra; buffalo, gazelle, wildebeest and other species make it their home. The terrain is the main stage for the great wildebeest migration, an awesome spectacle involving millions of these beasts. Lunch at Ndutu camp or the lodge. After lunch drive to Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Continue driving to Lake Manyara for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – After an early breakfast, you will depart for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. This is one of the most diverse of Tanzania’s national parks, a tiny (325km²) combination of Rift Valley Lake, dense woodlands and steep mountainside. Manyara is a birding paradise (more than 380 species) as well as hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions, and many other animals. Mid morning, drive back to Arusha. Lunch at a restaurant in Arusha town. We trust you have enjoyed a true adventure of a lifetime!
