Bagamoyo and Tanzania Coast TourWe provide cultural and historical tours of some of Tanzania’s important sites and cities such as Bagamoyo on our Tanzania coast tour. Bagamoyo Tanzania is a port city on the Indian Ocean that has played various important historical roles in Tanzania. Apart from being a slave and ivory port, it was also a German outpost and their East African headquarters in 1891. Explorers such as Burton, Speke, Grant, Livingstone and Stanley all passed through this town. Day 1 – 08:00hrs depart from Dar es Salaam city centre on our way to Bagamoyo. On arrival, our Bagamoyo visit has a first stop at the Kaole Ruins, ruins of the Shirazai trade town (13th- 17th century). Then visit the crocodile farm, where crocodiles are raised before being shipped abroad. Lunch at Restaurant in Bagamoyo. Dinner and overnight at a Hotel in Bagamoyo. Day 2 – After breakfast, visit the main historical sites in Bagamoyo including the Caravan Serai, an old terminus of the caravans coming from the interior to the shore of the Indian Ocean; the Catholic Church, started in 1868 where Livingstone’s body rested for one night before it was shipped to Zanzibar; cemeteries with 47 tombs of early missionaries; German buildings such as Old Boma and the Customs House; and salt processing units. Meals and overnight at a Hotel in Bagamoyo. Day 3 – Morning at leisure on the beach with its warm Indian Ocean waters and lovely white sand. Lunch included. After lunch, drive back to Dar es Salaam.
